Learn about Elder Dale G. Renlund, the 100th Apostle called in the latter days.
Mormon Newsroom released short biographies of the three newly called Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of the three new Apostles is Elder Dale G. Renlund. The article, “Elder Dale G. Renlund: An Understanding Heart,” highlights his career, family, and service.
Elder Renlund’s career as a heart surgeon, his wife’s influence in his life, and his lifelong and life-learned willingness to serve the Lord in any capacity have helped him become the servant of the Lord that he is today. Here are some examples of his love and service.
- As a cardiologist, Elder Renlund learned “to care about people and . . . to solve problems.”
- When his wife showed a strong belief in eternal families through the priesthood shortly after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Elder Renlund remarked, “What I’d previously understood about eternal families in my mind, I now understood in my heart. Ruth’s illness changed the course of our lives. She’s my hero.”
- According to the article, Elder Renlund has lived a life that “has been defined by a willingness to accept callings and serve to the best of his ability.” He has served as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy since April 2009.
Elder Renlund has a strong work ethic, a deep love for his family and for God, and a willingness to serve God and his fellow men. Clearly Elder Renlund is an extraordinary individual whom the Lord has prepared to serve as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
